Day NOR | Online Registration | 2004 Results | 2003 Results Notice of Race SAIL NEWPORT MEMORIAL DAY REGATTA Preliminary Notice of Race - Subject to Change May 28, 2005 -One Day Only for All Classes, Sail Newport Sailing Center, Newport, Rhode Island Open to Classes: J/24, Etchells, Shields, Formula Race Board and F18-Cats. Sail Newport, and the Ida Lewis Yacht Club, invite you to join us for one-design racing on lower Narragansett Bay on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. This will be a great Warm up for the 2005 season with a casual, short-course but fast-paced race day. Join us after racing at the Ida Lewis Yacht Club for a beer. 1. ELIGIBILITY: The race is open to yachts of the following classes: J/24, Etchells, Shields, Formula Race Board and F18-Cats. 2. RULES: Racing will be conducted in accordance with the following: (a) The 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing including the prescriptions of US SAILING ; (b) Class Association rules for J/24, Etchells, Shields, Formula Race Board and F18-Cats; (c) This Notice of Race; (d) The Sailing Instructions and any amendments thereto. 3. REGISTRATION: Enter online with the appropriate entry fee. A Waiver of Liability, must also be signed in writing or thorugh the on-line waiver process by ALL skippers and crew participants, t by 1000, Saturday, May 28, 2005. Please have a representative of your boat check in at Sail Newport on Saturday morning at the Dock Office Tent between 0830 and 1000 in order to pick up Sailing Instructions. 4. LOCATION: Sail Newport Sailing Center (SNSC), Fort Adams State Park. For participants that require the use of the hoist and storage and are not summer storage customers of SN, there is a $30.00 storage and hoist fee. Boats may arrive after noon on Friday, May 27, and are asked to depart by 12 Noon on Sunday, May 30, 2005. Dockage is included in the entry fee and will be provided at the Alofsin Piers. 5. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Saturday, May 28 0830-1000 Registration, SN Dock Office Tent 1100 Racing, Social at Ida Lewis Yacht Club after Racing 6. SCORING: Low Point Scoring as described in RRS Appendix A 2.2. There will be one throw- out race, provided five or more races are completed. 7. ALTERNATIVE PENALTIES: 720* turns as described in RRS 44.2, amended to require a yacht which has accepted an Alternative Penalty and done her turns to so advise the Race Committee after finishing. 8. PRIZES: Will be awarded for the first three places in each class. If less than ten in a class, first and second only. The Memorial Day Regatta Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the winner in each class. 9. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Will be available at registration at Sail Newport. 10.
