This year\, the Halloween Howl’s first day of racing resembled an early spring sailing day. The breeze was challenging\, varying between six and 12 knots and swung from west to north over the four races. However\, the backdrop for racing was a brilliantly sunny sky and sparkling bay. 23 C420s and 31 Optimist boats racing are registered from RI\, MA\, CT\, and NY. \nThe sailors are showing top skills in tight racing in both fleets. The scoreboard for the Optimist Class shows a three-way tie in total points after four races. The race committee and sailors embraced the spirit in costumes both on the water and at the post-race shoreside social and costume contest. Racing continues tomorrow.
