Call for Sailors:

Are you looking to build or expand your sailboat racing skills in modern, high-performance sport boats? Are you a graduating senior from high school, a college sailor, or a young adult sailor with a positive, can-do attitude and competitive spirit? If so, this program is for you! Mission:

To develop young sailors for competitive racing on modern big boats in a positive learning environment.

Today, modern race boats center on large asymmetrical kits, square-top carbon fiber sails, powerful backstays, and long bob stays; they go fast, look cool, and reward teamwork. Precision crew execution, aggressive weight management, and quick maneuvers are winning combinations.

The Platform:

Located at Sail Newport, the program operates on an IC37 high-performance racing sailboat. 

The Program:

Founded and operated by dedicated sailors, EOS is different from other programs as the focus is to develop strong crew skills in multiple sailing roles that easily translate to todayʻs modern larger race boats.

On the boats, we combine two experts, two to three senior-level experienced, and two to four junior-level sailors on each boat. The team participates in the hoist launch at Sail Newport by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons and dock out by 4:30 p.m. A 90-minute practice, training, and lineup session is followed by the JYC Tuesday night PHRF weekly race.

Requirements and Fees:

• Consistency and commitment – Be available for at least five weeks of the JYC summer series
• Become a Sail Newport member – $50 for students
• Attend Preseason Training Weekend – TBD – a weekend in May
• Provide your own life jacket and gear
