This is our “Last Blast of the Season” for youth sailors. Year after year our hardy New England youth sailors prove their mettle by being the last group on the water before boats are put away for the season. The regatta is open to C420, Opti White, Blue and Red sailors.
2025 Recap
Saturday, October 25
In years past, Halloween Howl sailing conditions have varied from early season flurries, blustery weather at the backend of Nor’easters, and cloudy, wet days. This year, the Halloween Howl’s first day of racing resembled an early spring sailing day. The breeze was challenging, varying between six and 12 knots and swung from west to north over the four races. However, the backdrop for racing was a brilliantly sunny sky and sparkling bay. 23 C420s and 31 Optimist boats racing are registered from RI, MA, CT, and NY.
The sailors are showing top skills in tight racing in both fleets. The scoreboard for the Optimist Class shows a three-way tie in total points after four races. The race committee and sailors embraced the spirit in costumes both on the water and at the post-race shoreside social and costume contest. Racing continues tomorrow.
