What stood on the scoreboard at the end of the day on Wednesday, July 27, became the final standings of the 2023 C420 North American Championship. When racing was cancelled due to high winds forecasted by the National Weather Service, The C42o champions were in place. Organizers quickly pivoted and held an awards ceremony at the Sail Newport Sailing Center.
After three days of epic sailing, a few were disappointed but all understood the safety precautions.
Overall, the regatta included 130 boats. Youth sailors traveled from twenty U.S. States, the District of Columbia, Canada and the Virgin Islands. California was represented by the highest number of sailors at 47 followed by 28 Floridians and 26 racing sailors from nearby Massachusetts.
